Development of safe and resilient flooring with controlled slip under varying environments

Interactive SlipSafe Workshop gave an insight into key innovations for the next flooring generation

On 27 January 2017, the SlipSafe Consortium had invited to its final Workshop at the VLEVA Conference Centre in Brussels presenting the development and results of its European project SlipSafe. It attracted around 50 participants that gained an insight into this European project focusing on key innovations for the next flooring generation.

 

1st session: Outcome of the SlipSafe Project

 

The event was opened by Alexandre Dangis, EuPC Managing Director, who gave an introduction presentation on the SlipSafe project.

 

The first Workshop session was then dedicated to the outcome of the project. Jan Diemert from the Fraunhofer Institut fuer Chemische Technologie gave an overall technical summary of the SlipSafe project, followed by a presentation of Martin Becken from GTE Industrieelektronik GmbH on a new slip test device for in situ testing. The session was concluded by a Q&A session covering a lot of questions from the audience.

 

 

2nd session: EU funding in the development of Research and Innovation

 

After a coffee break, Cathy Pouret from EASME, the Executive Agency for the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, of the European Commission gave an outline on EU funding in the development of Research and Innovation and presented the H2020 SME Instrument programme.

 

 

3rd session: Vision of the Standard Bodies, Associations and Industry

 

The third session featured different visions from the standard bodies, associations and the industry. Jens Fellhauer from Bundesverband Keramische Fliesen e.V. focused on the importance of slip resistance testing, followed by a presentation from Richard Catt from the Contract Flooring Association on his association CFA as a 21st century trade body. The session was then concluded by Olivier Ceysson from Gerflor who outlined an industrial perspective on slip resistance solutions.

 

After another Q&A session, all participants were invited to a networking lunch.
